Childrens Ministries

Weekly Children's activities occur on Sunday Morning and during Wednesday Night Alive

Welcome to Children's Ministries at ABUMC! We offer a wide variety for faith growth & development for children ages 3 years to 5th grade. From Sunday school to summer Vacation Bible School to Christmas pageants and children's choirs. Please take a moment to see what might interest your child(ren) & help he or she grow in love for Christ & commitment to the communities surrounding us.

Sunday School

Join us for Sunday school mid-September through mid-May from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM for a wide range of biblical stories, worship, creative learning, & more. The preschool & kindergarten crews learn about Jesus, the Old Testament, & church history through the help of Faith Weaver lessons. The 1st through 5th graders explore the Bible & Christian life with a workshop model Sunday school. They learn about one story for 4 weeks, but get to experience it 4 different ways: stories, drama, puppets, art, games, movies, science, photography, computer workshops, & more!

We begin at 9:30 AM in our choir room (Harmony Room) for Kids' Worship. This worship service teaches children about the basics of worship in the sanctuary. They have songs, scripture & a mini-lesson/sermon, offering collection, prayers, & announcements. They are able to participate in each part & use their new skills to help share in the larger community of faith when worshiping with family & friends. Yes, our children usher, greet, & help assist with communion & scripture reading with the adults.

2010 Spring Musical Information

L.O.S.T., But Now I'm Found–from the creators of the best-selling kids musical We Are United, comes another fun island adventure from the creative team of Pam Andrews and Johnathan Crumpton. Take a voyage with the Captain and his first mate, along with the crew of the S.S. Hope on a day cruise that gets caught up in a storm and becomes stranded on an island. Come see how the storms of life confront us to evaluate if our faith is built on the shifting sand, temporary things of life; or the Solid Rock, Jesus Christ. This 45-minute dramatic musical is full of fun and adventure through songs, drama and most importantly–the Word of God which is the road map to salvation no matter what storms pass your way. Features 8 main characters.

Who can participate? 3rd-5th graders are invited to be a part of the main cast, having speaking parts & sing solos. They practice 6-8 weeks prior to the show. 3 years through 2nd graders join in with 3-4 songs & begin practice about 3 weeks before the show.
